Post Jumpers and Jazz Festival Catch Up.

Welcome to my first Blog post for Gallery 61.

The Warwick Jumpers and Jazz in July is done and dusted for this year.

The festival is a colourful yarn bombed, quirky and eclectic celebration of winter and jazz music in our little city of Warwick. If anyone has been to the southern downs during winter and especially July you will know it's time to don the beanies and the woolies to keep warm. We all have so much fun getting involved and I personally love to see the creativeness of the tree jumper displays, the quirkiness of the fashion statements and of course the beautiful music everywhere in the streets.

The festival is held over the last two weeks in July annually and this year was the 20th Anniversary. Lots of prep work was involved in the lead up to the festival here at the gallery including weeks and weeks of night time crochet for my tree jumper display and entry. Also lots of sewing prep in the gallery studio and displaying all of the great artwork in the gallery.

I ended up closing the gallery for a week to recuperate from a 12 day straight 9-5 opening. I absolutely loved it though. I met some amazing beautiful people over that time and I loved Showcasing my little quirky gallery to all the visitors. I feel so lucky to be able to have this opportunity to be my creative self and work my dream day job and little business.

In the week I closed the business I took my mum on a road trip to central NSW to visit family. It was great to get see the countryside and I especially loved the canola fields out in a beautiful bright golden yellow colour, as far as the eye could see in some areas. Lots of great inspo for upcoming art works I'm sure.

Next up in the gallery will see my last slow stitching workshop for the year and then to introduce my spring and summer workshops which will involve immersing ourselves in paint. I can't wait to see what we can create in the months ahead. Stay tuned for the workshop updates as I haven't fina;used them yet. They will be posted on social media and email. So if you haven't signed up for the gallery newsletter yet, do it soon to stay in the know. ;)

Yours in art and all things creative.

Love Julie
